Why Futsal?
This year 2011 the Soccer de Brazil academy will focus on Futsal. So why Futsal?
There are many benefits for the player in training Futsal compared to traditional indoor and outdoor soccer. With the small court and lack of walls, players are constantly placed in demanding decision-making situations, requiring quick thinking, good ball control, precise passing, and creative solutions. The rules of Futsal favour skilful, creative play above the physical contact that tends to be a feature of other soccer.
Smaller team sizes allow players to get more frequent touches on the ball and increased opportunities to score goals. Players are not just a defender or an attacker but a complete player resulting in a much better all-round understanding of the game.
Futsal is fast and exciting, providing an action packed game that keeps players physically active while having fun.
Futsal is a small sided game (5v5) played on a smaller field (roughly basketball court sized) with a smaller (size 3-4) ball.
Futsal has been proven to greatly assist in the development of young players for outdoor football.
FIFA says Futsal is better. US Soccer & USYSA says Futsal is better.
The Brazilians are among the many nations that swear by it.
Pele, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Robinho all credit Futsal for much of their skill and technical development.

Just watch Futsal players fight to keep the ball from crossing the touch line and you’ll immediately begin to see how Futsal develops skill, control, and technique. A small field with lines puts players constantly under pressure from other players and out-of-play boundaries. Players must learn to settle the ball rapidly, chop sharply, shield effectively, pass quickly and move into space.
Futsal is essential to Developing Player for Life.
